To the girls Resistance is Futile. Culturally, emotionally America is growing more loutish, arrogant, and vain. I detest this totally promiscuous patriotism. Wave a little flag and become a good person? Ugly.

Iraq is our second Vietnam

Bush will have morals crowd here in America. But what he has done in Iraqi and his father is on record with agreeing with Brett Scowcroft's decision to
pooh-pooh Dubya's bellicose policy on Iraq.

Americans believed the recycled myth that as a superpower we have super power--a silly, dangerous idea that has led us directly into another bloody Vietnam-type quagmire. Believing our military technology can incinerate any ragtag opponent, hubristic thinking (or the suspension of thinking) enabled us to also bury history. Our national hubris obliterated the memory that those ragtag Vietnamese defeated the world’s greatest military, our military.

With each Iraqi our military kills, more Iraqis join the insurgency. The longer our troops occupy Iraq, the better Iraqi insurgents become at killing our troops. In Iraq, violence is a great recruiter, and time is a wise teacher.

We are losing in Iraq, and next year we will be losing more. Iraq is our second Vietnam.

Mission What?

More than 5,000 soldiers have deserted since the war began, and "For the first time in a decade, the Army National Guard missed its recruitment target this year!

George Bush and the Republican Followers seemed completely oblivious to the fact of how they have willfully eliminated the "Thou Shalt Not Kill" Commandment from their subverted, perverted and immensely watered down republican version of Christianity (not to mention being their brother’s keeper or loving their enemy). They seemed equally unconscious to how they’re completely ignoring the atrocities and war crimes against humanity that they are sanctioning and allowing to be committed in their name. Instead, remarkably - the only thing these perverters and subverters of true Christianity seemed to be concerned about this holiday season with regards to Christianity was chastising department store clerks for saying "Happy Holidays", instead of "Merry Christmas." Who gives a Fuck?

Rummie the Dummie

It took only a few sentences on Wednesday for Donald Rumsfeld to demonstrate why he is both morally and strategically unfit to serve as secretary of defense. In a townhall-style meeting at a staging area in Kuwait, Rumsfeld was asked by Specialist Thomas Wilson of the Tennessee National Guard why soldiers were forced "to dig through local landfills for pieces of scrap metal and compromised ballistic glass to uparmor our vehicles?" There was a short pause, and then many of the 2,300 troops in attendance erupted in cheers and applause. Faced with soldiers asking for the bare minimum from their leadership tools with which to do their jobs--Rumsfeld managed to be at once callous, self-deluding, and dishonest..

Social Security will NOT run out untill 2052

More lies of the George W.Bush, who lied about why we went to war the grain of truth in claims of a Social Security crisis is that this tax increase wasn't quite big enough. Projections in a recent report by the Congressional Budget Office (which are probably more realistic than the very cautious projections of the Social Security Administration) say that the trust fund will run out in 2052. The system won't become "bankrupt" at that point; even after the trust fund is gone, Social Security revenues will cover 81 percent of the promised benefits. Still, there is a long-run financing problem.

Trigger-Happy US Troops. Fire Rummie the Dummie!

Checkpoint shootings, which have killed untold numbers of women and children, are simply dismissed by the US military as “tragedies.” In September, when Blackhawk helicopters fired into a crowd in a Baghdad neighborhood killing 13 and wounding 60, the military couldn’t even keep its story straight.

In reality, these spree killings occur not because of “mix-ups,” but because the US military decided 50 years ago that the most effective way to fight wars was to transform soldiers into robotic, unthinking, killing machines.

The event that will haunt America for at least a generation. Egyptian President Hosni Mubarak was wrong when he said that the invasion of Iraq would “create 100 bin Ladens.” In the aftermath of Abu Ghraib, perhaps he should’ve said “1,000,000 bin Ladens.”

BUSH's military's Fallujah Solution

I ran across this picture from Fallujah last night. I'm going to make it a thumbnail image, so those who can't bear looking at a photo of a dog dining on an Iraqi, please just don't click on it. I think everyone should look at it, though, because this is the result of the US military's Fallujah Solution.

Note the Link

http://fallujapictures.blogspot.com
Accompanying a story describing how dogs eating corpses has created a rabies threat in Fallujah, is horrifying enough, but now we have Dahr Jamail's gallery of photos from Fallujah. I'm just going to quote Helena's reaction to viewing them and ask everyone to read her post before viewing the album.

We all have blood on our hands for this! How can we explain to that majority of US citizens that seems still to support this war with the depths of depravity to which Bush who lied about why we went to war, Rummie and Condi has led?

This is only the beginning of the exposure of the Fallujah horrors.

There's just too much anger here, too much ruptured vanity, too much shock, too much identity crisis. And worst of all, too much patriotism. Patriotism in a country that's failing has a logical tendency to turn fascistic...
